On Thursday morning, NSW chief health officer Kerry Chant said a Murrumbidgee resident had tested positive to COVID-19 in Victoria, before a subsequent test in NSW returned a negative result.
NSW Health are still examining further serology to determine the reason for the positive result.
In the meantime, the person and their close contacts remain in isolation as a precaution.
No new cases have been reported across the Murrumbidgee Local Health District today, as the state reports just one locally acquired case linked to a known outbreak and five new cases in hotel quarantine.
Ahead of the likely increased movement around the state during the school holidays, NSW Health is urging anyone with the mildest symptoms to isolate and seek testing.
Call the Murrumbidgee COVID-19 Hotline on 1800 831 099 to book a test.
