However the door is now open for the star hooker to line up in the grand final, should Tumut set up a clash with Gundagai by downing Young at Anzac Park on Sunday.
Bristow was facing two weeks on the sidelines after being charged with striking Derek Hay in the qualifying final at Twickenham on Sunday.
He successfully had his medium charged downgraded to low and will just miss the week.
Bristow is relying on his teammates to ensure his season isn't over but was pleased to have his suspension reduced.
"It's a positive as we came in and did what we wanted to do - reduce it from two to one"," Bristow said.
"That is what happened.
"Now we need to win so I have the opportunity to play again this year."
With the incident occurring at the end of the 8-6 loss, the 27-year-old admitted the whole situation has been a big learning experience.
However he is happy to take his punishment.
"I wasn't hoping for anything else as you can clearly see what I done and what I done is wrong," Bristow said.
"I'm happy to cop a week on the chin."
There was even better news for Blues halfback Jordan Anderson who successfully contested a medium grade dangerous throw charge.
Anderson was facing two weeks on the sideline for his involvement in a tackle on Joel Field.
However the judiciary found his role in the tackle was deemed minor and instead issued him a warning.
Anderson was thrilled to be able to take his place.
"To say I was going to miss two weeks and then go from two weeks to none is pretty good," Anderson said.
Tumut took a 40-12 win when the two teams last met but the key playmaker is now preparing for a much bigger challenge with the final grand final spot on the line.
"It will be a tough game and I feel like they are hitting their potential," Anderson said.
"They are playing good footy."
Bristow, who is unable to coach the side while suspended, believes Anderson being available is a real boost for the side as they look to defend their Group Nine title.
"It is massive we've got Jordy this weekend," he said.
"It is really going to help as he is our general so to have him there is awesome."
Anderson was the third player cleared at the judiciary this week after Hay and Damian successfully fought their striking charges on Wednesday night.
