A WAGGA man's plight to give his fiancee the wedding of her dreams has led to a new business venture helping residents tick odd jobs off their to-do lists.
Joseph Doherty got engaged to his fiancee in August this year after being together for what he said "felt like forever".
"She's awesome, I love her, so if it's her dream to have a great wedding, then it's my dream too," he said.
However, the cost of planning a wedding quickly added up for Mr Doherty, who began thinking of other ways to earn some cash while continuing his studies at university.
"I was just sitting in bed and thought I could do some odd jobs for people, so I wrote up the post on Facebook, and it took off," he said.
The result was an offer to 'Hire a Bloke', described in his Facebook post as a helping hand for those who "want something done and want it done now", or for a hard worker "who really doesn't want to spend their one day off a week fixing the garden or cleaning the pool".
In other news:
Whether it be mowing the lawn and weeding, or touching up some paint and fixing a loose screw, the handyman is happy to help those in Wagga in need of an extra pair of hands around the house.
"The only thing I won't do is work on the roof, or anything up high," he said.
So far, Mr Doherty has completed about four jobs, with up to ten booked in.
For $30 an hour, "stress no more, give [Joseph] a call, kick your feet up, crack a beer, and [he'll] have you covered".
