Browning is keen to continue playing with the Two Blues but family and work commitments mean he can't commit to coaching again.
"It's purely because I can't dedicate the time. I really want to coach but it's one of those hard things and I had to make a decision around everything else that goes on in life," Browning said.
He joined Barellan in 2018 as an assistant coach before succeeding Will Overs in the senior role in 2019.
"I pride myself on my coaching and I like to do a good job and have everything organised," he said. "I just don't want to do a bad job. It's not about just turning up for the hour or two a couple of times a week."
Browning said he's thoroughly enjoyed his two years with the Two Blues and was disappointed they didn't get to see how 2020 would've panned out.
"It was unfortunate this year, there was a heap of improvement and everything looked good. Our numbers were great," he said.
"Hopefully it all happens again for whoever takes it on next year."
Browning said he'd recommend the Barellan job to any prospective coach.
"For sure. It's brilliant. Both the community and the players are good to deal with," he said.
Charles Sturt University's Pat Noonan is the only other incumbent Farrer League coach to step down for next season.
