At 11pm on Tuesday, a crew from the Turvey Park Fire Station were dispatched to a set of flats on Bruce Street, Tolland.
Upon arrival the crew found a heap of rubbish well alight outside the apartments.
It took the crew 20 minutes to subdue the blaze.
No damage to neighbouring property was sustained but the smell of heavy smoke has remained in the area for hours.
Earlier this week, firefighters were sent to subdue a car fire in the carpark of Ashmont's Jack Mission Oval.
Just after midnight on Sunday, firefighters found a white Ford Territory completely alight.
It took the crews less than half an hour to control the fire.
