A gun Blaike McDougall ride helped Fashion Tip ($2.25) to an easy victory in the Tom Roberts 'Shearing The Rams' Cup Fillies and Mares Benchmark 58 Handicap (1300m).
Fashion Tip, raced by John Keough, enjoyed her first win since January 2019 and did so in convincing fashion, running away from her rivals to score by one and three quarter lengths.
Things had not been going the way of the six-year-old mare this campaign but trainer Wayne Carroll was happy to see her back in the winner's stall.
"Blaike put her in a gun position from the barrier and today without bad luck, she had some good luck for a change and put it away," Carroll said.
Fashion Tip will retire to the breeding barn shortly but Carroll hopes to get some more racing out of her before she does.
Josh Richards had success on the Phil Sweeney-trained Mr Moppett ($4.20) when he returned from a spell with a strong win in the A Break Away Class Two Handicap (1000m).
