Little Wonders Early Educational Centre could be the third childcare service for the fast-growing suburbs of Estella, Boorooma and Gobbagombalin after a development application was lodged to Wagga City Council earlier this month.
The proposed Avocet Drive centre will have the capacity for 87 children across five classrooms from the ages of six weeks to six years old.
It will operate from Monday to Friday with the opportunity to expand its service across the weekend in the future.
Owner of the Turvey Park centre Keely Hancock said there is a "massive need" for additional childcare facilities in Wagga given that her business alone has been turning away interested families on a daily basis.
"A lot of our families travel in from Estella. We thought this gives them the opportunity to be closer to home, as well as open up more spaces for our service at Turvey Park," she said.
In other news:
"Estella is a growing area and they've just opened up all that new land for houses, so we thought this was the perfect place to do so."
With the development application awaiting approval from Wagga council, Miss Hancock said they envisage the new centre open for business at Estella within 12-months with construction ideally starting in January.
"We always try and be positive ... we were very lucky (in Urana Street and enrollments) filled up in the first month, so hopefully it will be the same. We have had a lot of interest already," she said.
