The Henty community has farewelled a champion for the town, using a guard of honour to recognise Noelene Bedggood during COVID-19 restrictions.

Mrs Bedggood, who was a teacher, business owner and member of a range of community groups, died aged 75 on September 4.
Her friend of 48 years, Jude Morison, said due to COVID-19 restrictions, the service was held in the Henty Park - a place Mrs Bedggood loved.

"Noelene was instrumental in getting the skate park to happen in Henty - it was quite fitting the service was in the park," she said.
"She was very much a part of the community.
"She was involved in local committees, the rotary club in particular."
Mrs Bedggood had lived in Henty since 1958, beginning a teaching role at Henty Public School in the year she married her husband, Trevor, and later teaching at Culcairn.
The mother of four and grandmother was involved in Girl Guides, Tidy Towns projects, Rotary and the Henty Football Club.
"There was a guard of honour from previous rotary members and the Henty Football Netball Club, which Noelene's family was involved in," Mrs Morison said.
"The street was lined with people - everyone came out of all the shops to say goodbye."
