Jackson Douglas, 18, was this week charged with aggravated robbery and depriving a person of liberty following a month-long police strike force investigation into the alleged incident.
Detectives believe the alleged offender did not act alone and haven't ruled out further police action as investigations to identify potential accomplices - including the woman - continue.
Mr Douglas, of Mount Austin, is accused of threatening a 29-year-old man with a knife then robbing him of cash and his car keys after he arrived at a home in the suburb about midnight on July 31.
Police said the man had visited the Hunter Street home after being invited by a woman he met via a social media dating app.
It is alleged Mr Douglas then forced the man into a car and took him to a second home, where police have been told he was kept for about seven hours.
The man was also allegedly forced to pay for petrol, before escaping on foot and fleeing to a nearby service station.
Police were alerted and Strike Force Bock was set up to investigate the alleged incident.
Mr Douglas was arrested and charged on Tuesday.
Riverina Police District crime manager Detective Inspector Adrian Telfer said he was facing "very, very serious charges".
"This individual [the victim] was lured to a house under false pretenses, and he was really traumatised by what happened," Inspector Telfer said.
In other news:
Detectives believe there are people in the community who are withholding information and have urged anyone with information to come forward.
"We don't believe the [alleged offender] acted alone, and we are dedicating resources to finding out exactly what happened," Inspector Telfer said.
"We do believe there is a female out there who has information and we appeal for her to come forward."
The victim and alleged offenders were not known to each other, he said.
Mr Douglas faced Wagga Local Court on Tuesday, represented by the Aboriginal Legal Service.
He did not apply for bail and it was formally refused by Magistrate Christopher Halburd.
Court documents state the victim was allegedly robbed of $10 cash and his Nissan Micra.
The matter returns to court in November.
