Fire and Rescue NSW Station 472 Turvey Park Commander John Marzol said firefighters were called to Buna Street at about 8pm.
"It took about an hour to extinguish," he said.
"An aerial pump and a pump [fire truck] from Turvey Park attended. Because of the nature of the fire we've handed the incident over to police."
Fire and Rescue NSW Zone Commander Regional South 3 stated there had been "no persons located in building after search" and "no reported injuries".
Riverina Police District Sergeant Stephen Marshall said the incident was not under investigation.
"The damage was to a rear bedroom at the house," he said.
"It was an electrical fault. It was not suspicious."
Fire and Rescue NSW Station 472 Wagga also attended for a total of about 12 firefighters at the scene.
