The Wanderers will head across to Griffith to take on the undefeated Yoogali team at E W Moore Oval in a game that can shape both club's seasons.
The third-placed Wanderers experienced their first loss of the season last weekend and are looking to bounce back and cement a NPL Two finals berth with victory over Yoogali.
There is plenty of hype surrounding the meeting with Jones comparing the clash to a grand final.
"It's going to be a big derby. It's pretty much like a grand final for us," Jones said.
"Juniors all the way through to seniors, we've always had a bit of a rivalry, whose the better country team, it's always been good to have that rivalry there and a bit of competition.
"We're very excited and all the boys are up and about for it. Getting three points from these boys on the weekend would be massive so we're looking to go in with a bit of fire and get a win."
Yoogali are enjoying a successful start to their first season in the NPL Two competition. It will be the first time the two teams have met but Jones explained there is very little that is unfamiliar about Sunday's opponents.
"They've got a few different faces because they've got a few imports but a few players from their team have played for us before," he said.
"We've also played with a few of the boys in school comps and stuff like that. There's a few familiar faces there so it will be good to go up against them."
Jones is one of only two players to have played for the Wanderers in every season since their inception.
After moving from Gungahlin as a teenager, Jones started out in Wagga with Henwood Park before beginning the Wanderers' journey in 2015.
Jones was captain of the Wanderers' successful under 23 team last season and has returned to first grade this year under Michael Babic where he has held down a starting place at centre back.
The 20-year-old is enjoying the season.
"It's a bit of a step up from 23s, especially moving positions from centre mid to centre back but it's been a good challenge," he said.
"You've got some good players around you like Dyl Berkrey and Rob Fry that have been able to teach me where to go, give me advice and that kind of stuff. Two good senior players to have your back is always a good thing so it's been a comfortable transition but challenging at the same time."
As much as there is plenty of feeling in the Yoogali match-up, Jones recognises the opportunity that is in front of the Wanderers.
"If we get a win here, we're pretty much guaranteed a finals spot," he said.
"If we beat them, them and Queanbeyan will be going head to head pretty much for first. They've got as much to lose as us, they'll want to finish on top so they can get a home final.
"We're just looking to stay in the fight for the top three and this would be huge to get a win here, to be sitting perfectly for the finals and a bit of confidence for the boys going into it."
And Jones does not think the Wanderers will be purely making up the numbers in finals should they get there.
"If we play like we can, that I've seen at training and some of the games, we could easily win it, if we all work as a team, put the effort in at training and that kind of stuff. It would be really good," he said.
