A WAGGA woman has been sentenced to one month's jail after hiding in a truck to illegally cross the border into NSW. Ashleigh Flanagan, 27, attempted to cross the border at Wodonga on multiple occasions between Saturday, August 29 and Sunday, August 30, being denied access each time due to not having a valid permit. She then boarded a truck about 10pm on Sunday, where she hid in the back as it crossed the border between Wodonga and Albury, before returning to her home in Wagga. Officers from the Riverina Police District responded to information and visited a home in Ashmont where they arrested the 27-year-old about 9am on Tuesday, September 1. She was taken to Wagga Police Station and charged with not comply with noticed direction - COVID-19. Flanagan appeared in Wagga Local Court on Tuesday where she plead guilty and placed on an Intensive Correction Order.
