Organisers of the prestigious schoolboy rugby league competition have scrapped this year's grand final with the Shield to be presented to the team that finishes on top in the pool games.
The games that were set down for last Wednesday night had to be postponed to Monday night due to the wet weather.
But the competition has also been restricted to one game, per school, per night due to the tightening in COVID-19 restrictions.
In an already jam-packed term three schedule, it means the schools have run out of time to play a Hardy Shield grand final.
The remaining pool games will be spaced out over Monday and Wednesday nights, where the winner will be presented with the Hardy Shield.
"Unfortunately we will be unable to play a grand final due to AFL and hockey starting the following week, so the winner will be the team that finishes on top in the pool games," Kildare Catholic College sports coordinator Cherrie Kendall said.
Kildare and Kooringal High School are the only two unbeaten schools heading into the final four games of the competition.
Kildare will meet Wagga High at Paramore Park at 6pm on Monday night, the same time as Kooringal and Mater Dei Catholic College do battle.
Kildare and Kooringal are down to meet on Wednesday night in a game that is likely to decide this year's champions.
