Police were on Buna Street until about 4.40pm.
Two officers who were on the street with a police dog also left at this time.
An Ashmont resident who was visiting friends on Buna Street said he came out of the house at about 3pm and saw police in the street.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"They just told me they were looking for someone," he said.
He said police told him they were looking for a young man who was possibly armed.
"I was like yeah, righto, too easy, I'll sort it out if he is," the resident said.
"But no one has seen anything."
Two other residents said they had heard reports of a man jumping over back fences in the area.
