Wagga trainer Garry Small, who is a wardsman at Calvary, put together the St Lizzies syndicate after some interest was shown by a few of his colleagues.
A group of 25, who are mostly nurses, pooled together some money purely as a social thing for work and Hardaway Justice was purchased.
No one could have imagined the success they've had with the dog, who brought up his fifth win since March for the syndicate at Temora on Saturday.
Hardaway Justice made it two wins on the trot after backing up success at Wagga last week.
Box manners proved to be the difference on Saturday as Hardaway Justice ended the winning streak of Willy's Chance.
Willy's Chance was gunning for a fifth straight win for Jack Roy, but after missing the start had to settle for second as Hardaway Justice held on to take an all-the-way victory by almost two lengths.
It was his ninth career win.
The arrival of Hardaway Justice has also seen a big change for fortunes for the Wagga trainer.
It took Small four seasons to win his first race, when he scored three wins in the 2016 season, and hadn't tasted success since then until this year.
But when it rains it pours and with Hardaway Justice leading the charge Small has won seven races this year from 37 starts with another nine placings.
It includes a second with newcomer Flaunt It Ollie on Saturday, who is part of the St Joeys syndicate.
Meanwhile the O'Keefe family tasted early success across the 10-race card.
In fact it was before 9am when Beven's Desire broke through in a big way.
After being placed in two of his first five starts, Beven's Desire dominated his rivals to take out the opening race, scoring by more than 12 lengths.
Kennelmate Smart Desire also scored a comfortable win in the masters event.
Peter Dooner also tasted success with the only two greyhounds he took to the meeting.
Got To Casino and Got A Cookie provided the quinella Alan Rands Electrical Non Graded 457m for the Wagga trainer.
Got To Casino rallied late to down his kennelmate as a $1.55 chance.
