At 30, Wilson is the oldest member of the side who will line up against Young at Equex Centre on Sunday.
Most are under 25 and that is a big part of the reason Wilson is confident the club is heading in the right direction.
"It is good to be getting some success and a lot of the young fellas are very keen and have some good ideas about how the game should be played," Wilson said.
"We are definitely driven by youth."
Brothers are looking to add to their lone Group Nine title won 25 years ago.
They have made the grand final twice since, with Wilson part of losses to Tumut in 2007 and 2008, but there hasn't been a lot of success in the past decade despite promising signs in the two previous seasons.
"Hopefully it can be different going forward," Wilson said.
Coming into the side in round two, Wilson has enjoyed a more permanent return to the top top grade.
"It is good to play with all the young fellas, they try to keep me a bit young at training and they are a good bunch of kids," he said.
Brothers captain-coach Cameron Breust has been thrilled with Wilson's influence on the young side.
"We've got quite a young team this year so to have Zac back is good for our experience," Breust said.
"We've lost Brayden Sharrock, who is a huge mentor for the young guys so Zac is our eldest by a long shot now.
"It is good to have an old head in the team."
Breust was on the sidelines as Gundagai scored a 26-18 win last week to end their perfect start.
However he thought the performance at Anzac Park showed they can compete with the best.
"There were a lot of positives but obviously we were disappointed with the loss," he said.
"Gundagai are a quality team so to show we can match it with them is quite positive from our end."
Coming off the bye, Young are looking to rebound from a horror start in their 40-12 loss to Tumut.
However Breust still remains wary of the new-look Cherrypickers.
"We're not taking them lightly as they've signed some very good players this year," he said. "We're preparing like it is going to be a very tough game and want to get to the win before the bye.
"This weekend is a must-win for us.
"We want to go into the bye with very positive signs."
Brothers are third, two points clear of both Junee and Young, and one point behind Tumut and Gundagai.
Breust hasn't been named after injuring his calf in the win over Southcity three weeks ago.
However he will undergo a fitness test at training to see whether he returns.
"I probably could have played on the weekend but if I make it any worse I will be gone for the season," he said.
"It's a catch 22 as if I have one more week than I get two more weeks rest but then again it is a must-win and I want to play."
Connor McCauley will also be tested after struggling in his return from a back complaint last week.
