When the eight-year-old decided she wanted it cut short for the first time, the Love family saw an opportunity.
Sophie and her parents Michele and Damien are raising funds for Variety's Hair with Heart to help children with hair loss afford wigs.
About 40 centimetres of Sophie's hair will also be donated to be turned into a wig for a child with hair loss due to illness.
Sophie said she gave "all credit" to her mother for finding a charity, and she thanked her friends, family and wider community who had donated.
She said she couldn't believe how much people were willing to give.

The family rocketed past their original fundraising goal of $100 and were approaching $1000 raised by the end of the first week.
Sophie will be cutting her hair on August 19, and she said she was "pretty excited and nervous at the same time" to see her new look.
Ms Love said while researching charities to donate her daughter's hair to, she discovered a wig can cost up to $6000 and families have to replace them after about two years.
"They are constantly needing to buy new wigs for their kids so it helps to supply kids that don't have any hair with a beautiful head of hair," she said.
