Four years after making the move to Wagga City, the former representative playmaker has made a mid-season switch.
After playing second grade for the Boiled Lollies last week, Stanton heads to Tumut on Saturday as part of the Waratahs second grade outfit.
Injuries have seen the premiers use a number of different options already this season.
Co-coach Michael Davis believes he will be a good addition to the club.
"He is a solid first grader," Davis said.
"Hopefully he can stand up and put his best foot forward.
"We heard he was possibly not playing due to what is happening over there (at Wagga City) and thought instead of him having a year off we thought we'd put the word out to him and he was happy to come have a run."
Scott Doulis was in the number 10 jumper last week but is unavailable to fill the place against the Bulls at Jarrah Oval.
Instead Tom Hobbs returns to the role.
Waratahs are yet to get the same side on the field two weeks in a row and Davis is hoping to manage the changing team.
"It is a bit disruptive but it is also good for the new guys to get a run," he said.
"We're struggling with combinations but we will see how we go."
Michael Salvi comes off the bench and into the second row while George Sykes comes into inside centre.
Captain James Whiteley also returns after missing the win over CSU however Joe Mullany (back) and Sam Palmer (knee) come out of the side.
Tumut are behind Waratahs on the ladder and with consecutive clashes lined up Davis knows it is a big fortnight for both clubs.
"As we have Tumut back-to-back the next two rounds are quite important," he said.
"If we can get both wins it makes it really hard for Tumut and Reddies but there will be upsets throughout the way so I don't think it is a certainty that if anyone leaps away they are going to be home and hosed this early.
Waratahs scored a 12-3 win over Tumut to start the season.
