The Boiled Lollies are undefeated through the first three rounds of the Southern Inland season, with no team getting within 32 points of them so far.
CSU suffered a 47-15 loss to City to start the season and despite not winning a game yet Hood is pleased with the improvement in the side.
He is hoping to show it at Conolly Rugby Complex on Saturday.
"I know we will be better," Hood said.
"We've sorted out a lot of our issues we had early on against City, particularly the line out and set piece ball.
"They are a really handy side so we have a big challenge up against us so we will see how we go."
Coming off a number of tough years, Hood believes the club is heading in the right direction.
Especially with how they've been able to maintain strong numbers despite the impact of COVID-19.
"We've been a lot happier after the first round," he said.
"I didn't think we played very good in that first round but since then we've been good.
"We've lacked a little bit of composure at times and a little bit of experience and it has probably let us down at times but we are moving forward and looking to improve again this week."
CSU have been letting teams get the jump on them on the scoreboard however Hood doesn't believe it is because the team is starting slow.
Instead he's looking for them to make more of their opportunities.
"The funny thing is our starts have been good, we've been controlling the ball early but just haven't been able to put points on," Hood said.
"I think that comes back to needing a little bit more experience and composure.
"We are controlling the ball and controlling the field position but we are just unable to hit the scoreboard.
"Whether it is a letdown from not being able to score but once they get into our half we seem to let them down.
"It is one of those things where we are trying to work out what we need.
"So it is not our starts being all that bad but just not being able to capitalise on opportunities presented."
Hood has been forced to make two changes from the team who suffered a 34-26 loss to Waratahs last week.
His two centres Niumaia Naiduki and Waisale Nayavulagilagi will both miss the clash forcing a back line reshuffle.
Ben Hickey comes in at inside centre while Jerrina Faumuina shifts from the wing to outside centre.
Hood is yet to decide on who comes onto the wing.
However the forward pack remains unchanged.
In the other Southern Inland clash Waratahs travel to take on Tumut at Jarrah Oval.
Both teams are looking for a win to boost their finals chance.
