Captain-coach Trent Schubach was far from impressed with the Diesels showing in the 38-22 loss to Brothers at Equex Centre on Saturday.
Schubach thought there were plenty of positive signs after failing to maintain a strong start to their first clash against Young, before falling 28-18, but was disappointed with how they responded after the bye.
"I don't think we played any good footy in the whole game," Schubach said.
"We just gave it away and it was a pretty average game from start to finish.
"It just hasn't clicked yet and I think we just lacked a bit of energy from the get go.
"It is disappointing as we've got a lot of quality players."
Junee have brought in plenty of talent towards the back end of the pre-season.
All come with plenty of experience but the side is yet to put it all together.
The Diesels are one of four teams sitting on two points after three rounds, with all eyes on at least snaring fourth spot.
Kangaroos, their opponents on Saturday, are above them on percentage after their first win of the season against Southcity.
Schubach wants to ensure they stay in the thick of the finals fight at Laurie Daley Oval on Sunday.
"This weekend is pretty much must win," he said.
"If we don't win we will struggle to make finals but we will have a nearly full-strength side this week, which will give us some options in both grades - reserve grade and first grade."
Schubach missed the loss due to a neck complaint but will come back into the side.
Patrick and Aidan Sweeney are also available to return this week alongside winger Kiti Rasotale.
Schubach is pleased to have Aidan Sweeney back fit after struggling with a foot injury for over a year.
In his second season as Diesels coach, Schubach wants to get the balance of the side right.
"We will get a few back and change a couple of positions around and hopefully it comes together," he said.
"I'm pretty sure I'll go back to hooker but then I have to see what to do with the rest of the back line.
"We were average on our edge on the weekend and have to reshuffle them around."
Kangaroos picked up some injury problems of their own with Hayden Jolliffe (shoulder) and Eddie Lagaali (hamstring) both not playing the season half.
