However injured captain-coach Cameron Breust knows his team need to be prepared for their biggest test yet.

Taking a 38-22 win over Junee at Equex Centre on Sunday to make it three wins from as many games to start the season, Breust is looking forward to the challenge up against the Tigers.

"Next week is going to be our toughest test to date but we are really excited for it," Breust said.

"We are growing as a group and very excited for the challenge."

Brothers have wins over three of the four bottom teams to their credit so far but have the chance to show they belong alongside the competition heavyweights.

"I still think Gundagai are the team to beat this year so we will be able to see where we are at as a playing group," Breust said.

"We're excited for the challenge."

Breust is still looking for a complete performance from his side but thought keeping Junee winless was another step in the right direction.

"We're getting better each week, which is the most pleasing thing," he said.

"We are still not playing 80 minutes of footy so we have a bit to come but this one was of our better performances - especially attacking wise.

"We scored some pretty exciting tries."

With Bruest sidelined with a calf complaint the bulk of the playing was left to Dylan McLachlan and he didn't disappoint with his combination Joe Leggatt and Jordan Leggatt on the left edge proving very fruitful.

Brothers have picked up a number of injury concerns to start the season and won without Aaron Wynne, who withdrew on the morning of the clash due to illness.

It meant debutant Wilson Hamblin stepped into the hooker role and definitely didn't look out of place.

Breust was thrilled with how the 17-year-old adapted to the change of plans.

"It was a very late shuffle but Wilson actually started and well really well," he said.

"You wouldn't have known it was his first game that's for sure."

Hayden Philp and James Hay were also strong up front for Brothers, with Hay plenty the full 80 minutes.

The win also ensured Brothers retained the Rick Keast Memorial Shield.

Taking the honours for a fourth straight year only added to a good day for the club.

While Brothers have a big test against Gundagai as they look to maintain their winning start while the new-look Diesels outfit will be desperate to move off the bottom of the ladder when they tackle Kangaroos on Saturday.
