Twice they've been forced to attempt comebacks against Wagga rivals only to fall by eight points.

Rose thought the side was improved for their first hit out against Brothers last week, but was disappointed they had to play catch-up football again in the 32-26 loss to Kangaroos on Saturday.

"We probably improved where we needed to but there were patches throughout the game where we had those same errors from last week pop up throughout the game," Rose said.

"We're not putting in an 80 minute performance.

"We can score points when we are under the pump but we can't be playing catch up footy every week.

"You don't put yourself in a good position."

Rose thought the team gave away too many penalties and it proved costly as they became the first team to lose to Kangaroos.

The Bulls also lost Mitch Curran to an ankle injury after seven minutes.

With the club far from flush with numbers, Rose hopes the key forward won't be sidelined for too long.

"Fingers crossed it isn't too bad," he said. "We are light on numbers as it is so when you have someone who knows the system that we've created at Southcity it puts a bit of a dint in you.

"We've just got to keep working with what we've got."

Southcity faces Tumut next Sunday.
