It is alleged a Phantoms player came off the bench and entered the field of play to become involved in a brawl during the game at Leeton No.1 Oval.

It is just one incident from the clash which drew the ire from Wagga City with a number of players left bloodied and bruised.

Wagga City president Dan Ribot is far from impressed about the situation.

Ribot wasn't at the ground, with the club's first grade team playing against Tumut at Conolly Rugby Complex, but was far from impressed from reports of the incident.

"It's disappointing," Ribot said.

"Especially given so many of the clubs are just so happy to be playing rugby.

"We send out a second grade outfit with a lot of young kids to play against what is arguably a first 15 Leeton side and it is marred by what can only be described as stupidity."

Leeton, who are not fielding a first grade team this season, won the game 17-10.

Phantoms president John Hill is looking to address the situation believing it is not what the club stands for.

"I'm extremely disappointed in what has happened," Hill said.

"We've had one of our players come off the bench and onto the field and don't condone the sort of behaviour at all, under any circumstances.

"We will take the appropriate actions.

"As a club we will enforce sanctions and no doubt Southern Inland will want to investigate the situation as well."

Southern Inland has a board meeting on Monday and the issue is expected to be discussed then.

It is not the first time Leeton has been involved in a similar incident, with former coach Marika Vunibaka barred for three games for coming onto the field and punching a Tumut player in 2018.

Ribot is looking for Southern Inland and the referees association to respond.

"Leeton obviously has form with regard to that type of behaviour," he said.

However Ribot did not expect police would become involved.
