IT was a special day for many residents of Wagga, who officially celebrated becoming Australian citizens yesterday afternoon.
The 43 participants came from 20 different countries including Afghanistan and Columbia to Egypt, India, Ireland and South Africa.
Wagga's Dolkar Kyap was among those who could finally call Australia home after nearly 30 years of statelessness. His new citizenship has made him the first Tibetan to become an Australian citizen in Wagga.

Rex Flores also made the pledge on Friday after moving to Wagga eight years ago from the Philippines. He said it was a day that at one point seemed unlikely to happen when faced with many challenges.
Wagga's newest Australian citizens celebrated the occasion across two separate ceremonies held by Wagga City Council.
