NSW Police said child abuse and sex crimes squad detectives last month started an investigation after reports a 14-year-old girl was assaulted by a man known to a relative at Albury in September 2019.
Following extensive inquiries, investigators arrested a 20-year-old man at a home at West Albury about 9.15am on June 4.
"During a subsequent search of the man, police seized a small plastic bag containing cannabis," a police statement said.

"It has been alleged in court that the man pinned the girl down and performed sexual acts upon her despite numerous requests for him to stop," police said.
The man was refused bail and appeared at Wagga Local Court on June 5, where he was granted conditional bail to reappear at Albury Local Court on Tuesday, July 28.
