Switching codes, Staines scored four tries against hometown club Leeton in the first round of the Southern Inland women's competition on Saturday.
Coach Andy Bedford was thrilled Staines was interested in joining the club.
"It was a very nice message to receive when we were a little bit short on players in the pre-season," Bedford said.
"She asked if I had any room for her and my eyes lit up. I thought you beauty, absolutely, as those messages don't come through very often."
Staines was the star as Reddies started their season with a 30-15 over the Dianas at Leeton No.1 Oval.
The bonus-point win was just what Bedford was hoping for.
Meanwhile Hay were given a tough initiative to the competition after being belted by Ag College 44-0.
Clare Harpley and Liz Young both snared doubles in the win at Hay No.1 Oval.
Albury also forfeited their clash to Wagga City, who lost a trial game 20-15 to Waratahs, who had the bye.
The hit out helped Waratahs in their build up to a clash with CSU on Saturday while Albury are drawn to play Hay and Leeton hosts Wagga City.
