Oliver will spend 16 months on the sidelines after one of his greyhounds, Queenie Jean, was found to have 6-hydroxystanozolol in her system after winning at Wagga on February 23.

The progesterone derivative of an anabolic steroid, a permanently banned substance, was found in a post-race urine sample.

Charged with a breach of Rule 83(2)(a), Oliver admitted the charge at the earliest opportunity.

It is Oliver's third offence in the past three years.

After being provisionally suspended over the swab in May, Oliver's sentence expires on September 11 next year.

Vice president John Jones has stepped into the president's role with Oliver not allowed to be involved in the industry during the ban.

Jones will do so until the club's next annual general meeting in the coming months.

Wagga racing manager John Patton said Oliver's swab was disappointing losing him as president.

However he believes the club has moved forward under Oliver's leadership over the past four years.

"He's been president of the club for the last four years and the club itself has gone forward under his presidency," Patton said. "I don't want to talk about his training, but from an administration side and the sponsorship side with him the club has gone forward with everything.

"We've got more race dates and we have different projects around the club."
