The club has had to wait longer than most after having the bye in round one.
However the star playmaker is raring to host Brothers at Harris Park on Saturday.
"We're just keen to get out there, play some footy and try to put together a good performance to build off," Rose said.
"We've got a fairly new squad so we're looking to get some combinations and build some camaraderie around the side.
"It's been a bit stop and go but it's only a couple of days away now so we're keen to go."
There has been plenty of player turnover from the side who went down to Tumut in last year's grand final.
Nick Skinner, Hayden Jeans and Jake Dooley always headlined the list before a number didn't return after coronavirus delayed the start of the season.
And while depth may be their big issue as they finally get their season under way, Rose has named a line up with plenty of first grade experience.
Latrell Siegwalt comes into fullback, Scott Bowden returns to the club on one wing with newcomer Liam Fitzgibbon on the other.
Bulls junior Cody Hodge will start at centre, with younger brother Tyson in the front row.
Mitch Bennett is the only member of the back line from last year's grand final team but with Rose and Josh Siegwalt in the halves and Kyle McCarthy at hooker, it is hoped some continuity can help the club.
"It's not about having boys who have played first grade but it is more about playing together and building that trust around each other and knowing each other's game plan," Rose said.
After making the switch from Kangaroos, Dana Ratu joins Tyson Hodge in the front row with Simon Parr shifting to lock.
Luke McBeath and Mitch Curran complete the starting side and Rose hopes it will be the one who can rise to the task up against the Brethren.
Brothers come into the clash after a big win over Kangaroos to start the season.
Rose expects a big challenge.
"They will be tough, as always in a local derby," he said.
"I'm sure they will come out with a fairly new team and will be looking to prove a point."
Fitzgibbon is the only new face in the side but he has impressed after arriving at training.
"He's just moved over from Wagga for a job," Rose said.
"He's fairly quiet but has been going about his business."
The clash is set to start at the later time of 3pm.
