NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro on Tuesday launched the Bomen special activation precinct's master plan, which will go on display for public feedback over the next two months.
"This particular precinct is very exciting, about 4506 hectares and it includes the Bomen business park and we believe it will create anywhere up to 6000 jobs and more importantly attract the businesses and industries of the future," Mr Barilaro said.
"What we are able to do off the back of inland rail is look at attracting new businesses; it could be the renewables, recycling, new technologies.
"We know that this precinct, part of the master plan will be probably the first business park to have green hydrogen as part of the planning process going forward."
The Bomen special activation precinct is a NSW government to encourage new businesses and industries to Wagga's industrial area through a fast-tracked planning approval process.
Mr Barilaro said the master plan would be on display for 56 days instead of 28 days "to make sure we consult with the community" during the coronavirus pandemic.
"We look forward to seeing the feedback from the community because this is something we are determined to follow through, see the investment and attract businesses to the region," he said.
"Off the back of COVID, it's clear that we are revisiting the way we do business, we're revisiting how we do government and there's almost no reason to be in Sydney.
"Why can't you be in a fantastic region setting? A cosmopolitan city like Wagga?"
Proway Livestock Equipment, which hosted the master plan launch, said the special activation precinct would "create significant local employment opportunities and offer better services for advanced manufacturing and logistics".
Wagga mayor Greg Conkey said the master plan was a "great announcement for the city."
"It's going to be a great economic driver for this city for decades and decades to come," he said.
"We're looking at about 6000 jobs being created here over the next 10 to 30 years...it shows a lot of faith in this community and a lot of faith in this region."
The NSW government has previously committed more than $29 million to improve freight links at Bomen to assist the special activation precinct.

Independent Wagga MP Joe McGirr said the government and Mr Barilaro should be commended for their "vision of regional NSW of growth not decline".
"Never has that been more important than with the COVID crisis that we are facing now," he said.
"How prescient, what foresight to see that this is the place to work, live and enjoy life in the midst of the COVID crisis.
"The opportunities that can be developed from the master plan for this precinct will make sure that this region will be a part of that."
The master plan can be viewed online and feedback submitted NSW Planning website.
