The victim was concerned for the welfare of the child, who its mother was ignoring as she downed cans of mixed spirits.
North Albury woman Kimberley Cheree Brown had earlier approached the victim from behind in the kitchen of a nearby house and punched her in the back.
Brown tried to do the same again after cornering the victim in the laundry, but missed.
Later in the park, Brown, who by this stage was "well-affected" by alcohol, began abusing then grabbed the victim by her long ponytail and tried to kick the woman.
Brown, appearing a video link to Junee jail, has pleaded guilty in Albury Local Court to domestic violence-related charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contravention of an apprehended violence order, destroy or damage property and intimidation.
The court was told that Brown, who was unemployed and already serving an intensive corrections order, arrived at an Eastern Circuit, East Albury, home on May 18 about 11.30am.
The victim was also at what was her friend's house for the party. Brown was "emotional" about the break-up of her relationship with her long-term boyfriend, who was the father of her child.

She immediately began drinking. Police said the victim tried to talk to Brown to get her to "slow down" but this had no effect.
Just after this, Brown punched the victim and then tried to punch her again.
About 2pm, she walked to a nearby shopping centre to buy alcohol. While there she saw her ex-partner with their child.
The man previously had been granted an order prohibiting her from approaching him or their child within 12 hours of drinking alcohol or taking illicit drugs.
Brown, who was clearly intoxicated, grabbed the pram and took off, which prompted her ex-partner to question her about doing so while she was drunk.
"You can't tell me what to do," she said, then returned to the party. She had downed half a dozen mixed Bourbon cans by 4.30pm.
After the park incident, the victim's mother arrived to collect the child at which point Brown grabbed the victim and shoved her into the passenger door of the car, damaging a panel.
Brown will be sentenced on August 28, after the preparation of a sentence assessment report.
