After a chaotic week where a host of clubs withdrew from playing due largely to safety concerns, the football world will resume some sort of normality when Wagga Tigers meet fellow Tiger heavyweights Osborne at Robertson Oval.
In other round one clashes Turvey Park hosts Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong at Maher Oval while Mangoplah-Cookardinia United-Eastlakes take on Leeton-Whitton at Mangoplah Sports Ground.
After five rounds where everybody plays each other once, the teams that meet in round one will play in the final round.
A three week finals series then begins on September 5, culminating in the grand final on Saturday, September 19.
The release of the draw is sweet relief for AFL Riverina and the competing clubs, who have fought tooth and nail to ensure football is played in the region this year.
On Thursday Osborne were still keen to obtain some clarity on whether they could field Albury-based players after the state government last week issued a directive advising against participants travelling to and from the Border region.
But the club has agreed to adhere to the AFL Riverina's strong recommendation against fielding Border players, and will take their place in the competition.
"We're full steam ahead," Osborne president Jason Gooden said.
"We consulted our playing group last night (Thursday). We lost our Albury blokes, but we pick up a few more.
"We'll undertake the AFL's strong recommendation. We can't get clarity which makes it difficult, but that's the times we're in."
However, Gooden said Albury-based coach Joel Mackie will remain in the post until directed otherwise.
"We're working through the process now. He's still our coach, just someone will take it on on the day.
"One of the objects of our club is to promote and advance the playing of Aussie Rules in the district, so that is what we're doing."
Although no Farrer League clubs will take part, the league will be named the AFL Riverina Championship.
AFL Riverina chairman Michael Irons said early this week he would like to see at least six teams involved.
It looked in jeopardy after Coolamon announced their withdrawal on Thursday, citing the inability to make the expulsion of non-Riverina based coaches and players mandatory as a major factor.
