The Demons are just the third Riverina League team after Griffith and Narrandera to officially pull out, with president Tony Dean regularly voicing his concerns over the risks of playing this season in recent weeks.

Collingullie officially advised AFL Riverina chairman Michael Irons late on Tuesday night they would not play in the planned AFL Riverina Championship, a combined competition featuring Riverina and Farrer League clubs.

It means just two Farrer League clubs - North Wagga and Marrar - are the only ones yet to officially announce their intentions with the other teams confirming they won't play.

Irons said on Tuesday he hopes at least six clubs play in the combined competition, and nine clubs now remain in the hunt.

Dean told AFL Riverina in a statement they opted not to play due to health and safety regions, with the coronavirus flaring up in Victoria and New South Wales.

"The decision was incredibly difficult, we were advised by our football and netball senior coaches that our member numbers were stable and we had the ability to field all grades in both football and netball," Dean said.

"The decision not to continue is purely based on the health and safety of our volunteers, supporters and the public in general. We feel we have a duty of care to all involved within our club and the community, we are all disappointed but comfortable with our decision.

"I'd like to thank AFL Riverina, its board and committee for its assistance and guidance over the last few months."

Temora confirmed its withdrawal via social media, also citing safety concerns, as did the Jets.

Clubs have until close of business on Wednesday to decide whether they wish to play in the combined competition.
