The former Kangaroos and Albury captain-coach returns to the region after a season with Darlington Point Colembally.
The former NRL player helped the Roosters to their first Group 20 title in 31 years in the process.
However with the competition not going ahead the 33-year-old has made a late decision to join the travelling contingent.
Jeffery admitted his preparation is far from ideal, but is looking forward to linking with the Diesels for the first time on Thursday ahead of their first round clash against Young at Laurie Daley Oval on Sunday.
"They gave him a call, they were interested and I haven't been doing a great deal so I thought why not," Jeffery said.
"(The fitness) will be interesting that's for sure but I'm not expecting miracles."
Jeffery will be the fifth captain-coach to link with the Diesels for the 2020 season, joining West Wyalong pairing Jake Goodwin and Tim Dore as well as Cootamundra's Aaron Byrne and Haydn Cowled.
Junee president Simon Vanzanten is thrilled to have him on board.
"It is awesome," Vanzanten said.
"With all the handy middles and halves we've picked up we wanted to get a classy back to help us out.
"He certainly fits that mould and we can move someone around to get that sorted."
With options to have across the entire back line, Jeffery isn't heading to the club with any expectations.
The centres is Jeffery's likely destination as the Diesels look to work out how best to utilise their talent in the shortened season.
"We are thinking centre but it depends on where he fits in," Vanzanten said.
"A lot of our backs are a bit versatile and could play anywhere.
"We just want to get him on board and see how it goes."
Vanzanten is expecting a big first challenge against Young, who also have plenty of new faces.
"I expect Young to be one of the big improvers and with Hally (Nick Hall) coaching and some of the players he's picked up, like the Picker brothers, and some of the young fellas they've got back I think they will be very competitive," Vanzanten said.
"We will just have to see how it goes."
