Six goals to Johane Oberholzer on debut for Hanwood led the way while a goal each to Airlee Savage and Kandice Bertoldo helped their side secure a convincing victory.
Coach Anthony Zuccato was proud of the way his side started the season.
"Start of the first half we played really well for the first 25-30 minutes and then a bit of fitness started to kick in, and we went down a little bit," he said.
"They came back out in the second half and put in a fairly solid performance.
"For the first hit out of the season there is definitely plenty to be happy about, but there is still plenty to improve on that's for sure."
Zuccato paid credit to the hard work of his midfielders as well as a strong performance from Maree Cirillo in goal.
"There was some good build-up play with a few through balls to open up the goal, but a lot of it came from great work in the midfield," he said.
"Keeping a clean sheet is always one of the big things. Maree had a great came in goals, and everyone across the park played well."
There were a couple of niggles picked up with Jemimah Brooker (ankle) and Felicity McClure (quad) picking up injuries but apart from that the Hanwood coach was pleased to see his side get through their first game unscathed.
Hanwood will play their first home game next weekend which will also be the grand final rematch of last year when they take on Tolland.
In Sunday's other round one match Tolland easily accounted for Junee 7-0.
