Rural Fire Service crews attended the Wagga Boarding Kennels at Gelston Park on Friday morning to extinguish what they described as a "fierce" fire.
It is not yet know what caused the blaze, but an RFS spokesperson said crews were alerted to the incident just after 10am.
"At this stage, it looks as though about 70 per cent of the structure has been destroyed by fire," they said.
"We have just under 20 firefighters on scene, and Fire and Rescue, Police and Ambulance are also in attendance."
A neighbour at the scene said the incident was "a tragedy".
"It's a young family that live there and now their house is gone," they said.
A spokesperson from the NSW Ambulance media unit said no one was injured or required any treatment at the scene.
The RFS spokesperson said an in investigation is underway to determine how the blaze started.
Wagga Boarding Kennels reassured customers on Facebook that "all of your babies are safe and the kennels are still fully operating".
Another neighbour said it was an enormous house. Beautiful double brick with timber ceilings".
"Its terrible, so sad." he said.
