Goodwin made a big impact in his lone season for Cootamundra two years ago and has become the latest new face at Junee.
The talented forward returned home to West Wyalong last season and was co-coach of the Mallee Men.
He was set to take up the role again in 2020 but with the Group 20 not going ahead this season
Junee president Simon Vanzanten is thrilled to have Goodwin on board.
"He was one of the form middles of the competition when he was here," Vanzanten said.
"Along with Andre Iro, he adds a bit of depth to our middles and is going to make it a pretty formidable forward pack."
Tim Dore was set to partner Goodwin in the Mallee Men's coaching arrangement this season and joins Goodwin in making the shift to Junee.
With his versatility in the forward pack, Vanzanten is unsure just where he will fit into the side.
"He's played a lot of lock and hooker at West Wyalong and is a really good worker apparently," he said.
"He'll either be in the middle or on the edge for us.
"We'll just have to see how it works in with our team."
Goodwin and Dore complete a late frenzy of players headed to the Diesels.
Kane Hammond linked with the club from Yanco-Wamoon while Cootamundra co-coaches Aaron Byrne and Haydn Cowled are also on board as is Bulldogs recruit Iro.
Vanzanten, who held a state of play meeting last season, is thrilled with how things are working out for the club.
"We have been really, really lucky to pick up the experience from these players," he said.
"You are always looking for quality players and to pick them up at this stage to give us a really competitive squad is awesome.
"We struggled all off-season to get quality players and then this comes around and it works in our favour."
With four players who were set to co-coach their clubs, Vanzanten believes their leadership will be good around the club.
Junee had an influx of Fijian talent link with the club and Vanzanten expects to have eight or nine new faces in the side.
The Diesels start their season with a clash against another of the big off-season movers Young at Laurie Daley oval on July 19.
With contract training returning last week Vanzanten is pleased with the progress.
"We will see how it all fits together, and that is going to be the hardest considering we've got people from all over the place to try and come together, but with their experience they look like they've fitted straight in," he said. "It should be really good for our squad."
Border changes will impact the structure of the competition but Junee have just been focusing on working towards the season starting new week.
"We're just going about it as if the competition is going to go ahead," Vanzanten said
"We haven't heard anything official about the Albury situation yet."
