A Wagga City Council spokesperson said the incident on June 30 was immediately reported to SafeWork NSW.
"An existing beam fell onto the river bank with no injuries, damage to plant or impact on the environment," the spokesperson said.
"Council is satisfied with the response and this will not impact the progress of the project."
SafeWork NSW said it had been notified of the incident and was "satisfied with the response from the contractor and the actions being taken to prevent similar occurrences in the future".
The $10.6 million project to strengthen and widening the Murrumbidgee River bridge over the course of six months started in February and has previously been delayed by equipment theft and bad weather.
