The Eagles had been trying to convince Lane to return for months but the cancellation of the Ovens and Murray League last week was enough to get him over the line.
Lane will be joined at Narrandera by his partner's brother, exciting Albury talent Riley Bice.
Lane spent three years at Narrandera, including the last two as coach, and became a very popular figure at both the club and the league.
His impact was highlighted by his win in the 2018 Jim Quinn Medal, in a season where the Eagles were unable to win a game.
Narrandera president Mark Savage is rapt to have Lane back at the club.
"He's very well respected around the league, Laney," Savage said.
"Out of the players coming in, there's not going to be many better than Jared. He goes to any standard as a footballer.
"He had a great year last year in the O&M with Corowa. It doesn't matter where he plays."
Lane won Narrandera's best and fairest in each of his three seasons at the club and returned to Corowa-Rutherglen last year, where he won the club's top award as well.
He did not take much convincing on a return to Narrandera.
"The club asked if I was keen and I'm looking forward to going back," Lane said.
"It will be good to catch up with everyone again. It's a good club and I'll play as much as I can."
Bice, a dashing left footer, kicked 24 goals from 16 games for Albury last year.
The season before, he was best-on-ground in Albury's under 18 grand final win over Wangaratta.
A talented utility, Bice will provide Narrandera with options.
"He plays a bit of everywhere," Savage said.
"I think he played TAC Cup, as well as first grade at Albury. He missed out on the draft but has been pretty handy.
"There should be a bit of interest, along with the locals we've got, hopefully we can stay competitive."
Narrandera ended a 38-game losing streak last season and went on to win three games for the season to climb off the bottom of the ladder.
Best and fairest winner, the Canberra-based Jordan Hedington, had stepped up the coaching role with the club hopeful of continuing its improvement.
Lane and Bice will join Rob Tuohey, Zac Derksen and Thomas Flight as Narrandera's recruits.
Ryan Price and Hedington will again travel from Canberra.
Meantime, The Rock-Yerong Creek continue to recruit heavily for the shortened Farrer League season.
Former Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong coach Jayden Kotzur and former Narrandera footballer Brent Rose have lodged permits to play with the Magpies.
That is on top of Albury co-coach Luke Daly.
Northern Jets show no sign of slowing down, adding Finley's Matt Jackson. A clearance for North Albury coach Isaac Muller has been denied.
