The AFL Riverina board gave Osborne's move the green light at a meeting on Tuesday night.
Riverina League clubs were marginally in favour of Osborne's application to join the league for the 2020 season and that view was supported by the AFL Riverina board, who ultimately gave approval.
The Daily Advertiser understands the vote from Riverina League clubs was six to three in favour of Osborne's entry.
AFL Riverina chairman Michael Irons said the board supported the view of the majority of Riverina League clubs.
"After considering club feedback and that the majority of clubs were in favour of Osborne joining, the board approved Osborne's application to become an affiliate club member for 2020 subject to Osborne providing a list of names for their under 17.5's team," Irons said.
Osborne will remain affiliated with the Hume League and come across to the Riverina League as an affiliate for the 2020 season only.
The club's under 14 football and some junior netball teams will remain in the Hume League.
The move came about when the Hume League decided not to play for a senior premiership this year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Osborne will only have three home games, under a new draw approved by the AFL Riverina board on Tuesday night.
The Riverina League will hold a nine-round season, with a top six finals series to be held over four weeks.
Osborne president Jason Gooden said the reason behind the move was to provide football and netball to their players.
He believes their entry could help reinvigorate the Riverina League and be a 'win-win' for both parties.
Osborne, under new coach Joel Mackie, are set to unveil a host of signings in coming days. Wodonga forward Tom Johnson has already lodged a permit, while a couple of his Albury teammates are also expected to join him at Osborne.
The club is already in the process of organising an alternate strip to avoid a clash with Wagga Tigers.
