POLICE are investigating the cause of a house fire in Deniliquin today which destroyed the property.

About 3.30am on Tuesday, emergency services were called to a home on Davidson Street, Deniliquin, following reports of a fire.
Officers from Murray River Police District found the premises well alight when they arrived on scene, with nearby properties evacuated as a precaution.
The blaze was extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW, but no one was home at the time of the fire and at this stage, the cause of the fire is unknown.
As investigations continue, detectives are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
