Director of commercial operations Caroline Angel will leave the position in early July after working for the organisation for four years.
Ms Angel started as a manager in the council's project management office, but moved to her current position 12-months later where she has been responsible for the delivery of major infrastructure projects including the Multi-Purpose Stadium and the upgrade of the main city levee.
Council's general manager Peter Thompson said her leadership has been greatly appreciated and the council wished her the best for the future.

But now with a vacancy, Mr Thompson said there is an opportunity for the council to reconsider how that area operates.
The Commercial Operations director will be divided into two, and two senior engineers will be appointed for a 12-month period to provide specialist engineering expertise to both the council's project delivery and engineering operations.
Mr Thompson said the community has a high expectation of the council to deliver a significant capital works program to cater for the growth of the city.
"It is an important portfolio and we need to ensure we keep progressing the momentum which has been building in recent years," he said.
Wagga mayor Greg Conkey paid tribute to the contributions Ms Angel made to the council at Monday's meeting.
Cr Conkey said she has overseen a large number of major projects and worked tirelessly during the summer's bushfires.
"During the bushfire at the beginning of the year, Caroline stepped in to ensure Wagga provided the best possible evacuation centre for the people who were impacted by the fires," he said.
