Zakeriz ($12) made it back-to-back successes at Albury with victory in the Chapman, Gould & May Benchmark 58 Handicap (1400m).
Zakeriz again appeared to relish the heavy conditions, with jockey Richard Bensley in the saddle, and raced away to score by two and three quarter lengths.
It continued a good run for the five-year-old and his trainer Chris Hardy. Zakeriz spent 12 months in the paddock with a tendon injury but has returned to win two of his first three starts back.
It was a successful day at Albury for Wagga trainers and jockeys.
The Tim Donnelly-trained Miss Amelia ($4.00) made it back-to-back wins when taking out the Timber Cafe Benchmark 58 Handicap (1000m).
It was the second leg of a winning double for Wagga apprentice jockey Heni Ede, who was successful earlier in the day on the Phil Sweeney-trained Tough Decision ($15).
Trevor Sutherland and Nick Heywood combined for victory on Just Business ($4.80) in the Hi Tech Antennas Maiden Handicap (1400m).
