POLICE DESERVE MORE RESPECT
The repeated abuse of our police force is absolutely sickening; we rely on them to uphold law and order but daily they are subject to physical abuse.

The public, instead of extolling their efforts, seem to love taking them to task if ever an excess of force is spotted.
I would challenge the critics to live in their shoes for a day.
Unfortunately, the abuse is also directed towards ambos, firefighters, the SES and nurses, and when perpetrators go before the courts they receive a slap on the wrist.
It is time for politicians to take action to protect these services by introducing a mandatory, minimum sentence of six months.

SOME SPORTS NEVER WENT AWAY
Sport is slowly re-commencing as we see the effects of COVID-19 decreasing, however, there is one sport which hasn't been effected at all - the Bourkelands Drive Speedway races.
The first event starts at 7am through to about 9am, then follows the heavy vehicles.
However, the best event is the night-time races to be the first home.
This sporting event was not cancelled as spectators can watch from their homes - ie, self-isolation.
The best part - the entry fee for spectators and participants is free!

SICK OF 'BIASED REPORTING'
A challenge to the editor of The Daily Advertiser: It is fair to say that I am totally sick of the biased reporting in "our" local paper.
Just recall for a moment all the publicity given to the local "Black Lives Matter" demonstration.
I wrote and asked what was the purpose of the demo, but no answer of course.
Read more letters:
It has now emerged that the whole situation would probably not have taken place if The DA had taken the time to check some facts about George Floyd.
He had a very long criminal history including robbery whilst holding a gun to the belly of a pregnant woman, plus drugs and the all the rest.
It would be nice if The DA printed out his history just to show how awful this situation really was, so people could make a judgment.
We may even think The DA would be showing balanced reporting.
All lives matter.
What about all the Christians being murdered on the African continent because they are Christians? They are being murdered by Muslims.
Do their lives matter? Not even the Pope has mentioned a bit of it. We must not upset them.

JOBS GOING DOWN SOUTH
It is an ill wind that blows no good.
Jobs availability in Victoria may soon be looking up.
Job seekers could soon look forward to an advertisement that may read: "Branch stackers needed. No previous experience required. Apply - the Victorian Premier, Daniel Andrews."
