Tigers will welcome Campbell back for the shortened Riverina League season after the cancellation of the Ballarat Football League last Friday.

Campbell led Wagga Tigers to the premiership in 2016, the first of his three years as coach, before he joined Melton last season.

But Campbell will be back in the yellow and black for round one as one of a number of former Tigers players set to return to the club.

"It should be good fun," Campbell said.

"I always wanted to maybe come back once, whether it be now or in a couple of years and try to drag a few other boys back but it seemed pretty fitting now that the season isn't happening here and what not so I'm definitely excited."

Campbell would love nothing more than to experience a second premiership at Tigers and help the club go back-to-back under coach Troy Maiden.

"That would obviously be the ultimate goal," he said.

"Play a bit of good country footy back in the area where I thoroughly enjoyed playing, the club, the boys and it will even be even more enjoyable with a couple of boys from previous years that I've played with so it should be good."

Campbell proved somewhat of a utility in his first season at Melton but kicked 23 goals, played inter-league and was named in the Ballarat League's Team of the Year.

Wagga Tigers president Anthony Lyons is delighted to have Campbell back at the club.

"It will be fantastic to see him back playing with us," Lyons said.

"It will be some more on-field leadership, not that we've missed any, but his on-field leadership is exceptional. He will be a great addition back to the club."

Premiership ruckman Brad Graham has returned home to Wagga and will give Tigers an imposing ruck pairing alongside Tom Osmotherly.

Shannon Terlich, Warren Bartlett and Lucas Denton have also returned to the club with more expected to be confirmed this week.

Terlich kicked 27 goals from 13 games for Henty last season.
