After finishing second or third in her past five races, the three-year-old filly proved far too strong to win the Hahn Premium Light Class One and Maiden Plate (1800m) by almost one-and-a-half lengths from Michael Heagney's Zoey Lass ($6).
Mahsinger generally settles on speed, but settled midfield before jockey Jordan Mallyon launched a sustained run with two furlongs to go.
Colvin said Mahsinger will now head to the paddock before returning as a four-year-old, where she will step up in distance.
"She's been very unlucky, but very consistent. She's only a three-year-old and I think she'll get up to 2000 metres," Colvin said.
"She'll probably go for a spell and come back as a four-year-old, but she's very consistent and seems to want a bit of ground.
"We rode her back a little bit, because she looked like she was getting bored in races. She drew badly, and it was a very good ride by Jordan Mallyon because she got out really well and he dropped her back, and that really suited her.
"Then the pace dropped off and was caught in no man's land so she went forward, and she kept rolling which was really good.
"I'm really looking forward to her maturing a little bit more as a four year old, and I think we'll have a lot of fun with her."
Colvin and Mallyon later combined for another win with Zarsnip, but his victory was much less routine.
The four-year-old gelding ($9.50) took advantage of a rails run down the straight to just hold off the Trevor Sutherland-trained Our Romeo in an extremely tight photo finish.
Zarsnip has now won twice this preparation and defied a late betting drift to salute.
"He won his maiden first up this prep and he's only a real little horse, but he's got a good motor on him," Colvin said.
"He's like a little bulldog and it was really good to see him win another one, I was quite happy with him.
"His price blew right out, which I was surprised with."
Other winners were Matthew Dale's Fling ($4.60) in the Ironjack Maiden Plate, Aaron Clarke's It's a Dream ($5) in the Hahn Superdry Maiden Handicap (1000m), Joe Cleary's I Am Grande ($9) in the Tooheys Extra Dry Benchmark 50 Handicap (1400m), Luke Pepper's Snowbrook ($4.80) in the Tooheys Extra Dry Benchmark 50 Handicap (1400m) and Sutherland's Benno's Boy ($5) in the XXXX Gold Benchmark 50 Handicap (1000m).
