Police were called to a unit block on Edward Street at about 12pm on Thursday June 25, following reports of a dispute between neighbours.
When police arrived, a man came out of one of the units armed with a large knife and made threats towards a probationary constable.
Police say the probationary constable then drew his taser and called upon the man to drop his knife.
The man went back inside his unit and dropped the weapon.
Further police arrived and spoke with the man, who refused to exit the unit.
Police forced entry to the unit and arrested the 44-year-old man.
He was taken to Wagga Police Station, where he is currently assisting police with inquiries.
A large carving knife was located inside the unit and seized.
The probationary constable, who attested from Goulburn last week, was not physically injured as a result of the incident.
Inquiries are continuing.
