Machs Legacy will take on the older horses when she contests the Riverina Asbestos Removal NR47 Pace (1740m) at Wagga.

The two-year-old filly broke through for her maiden victory a fortnight ago and will now step up to take on the older horses on Friday.

"I think she'll be competitive," Kelly said.

"She's going pretty good, I think she'll be competitive, I'm not sure, they might be a bit good for her but she won't be far away I don't think."

Bruce Harpley goes on Machs Legacy, with Paige Bevan to drive the stablemate, Blissfulday, which is raced by her family.

Machs Legacy has drawn gate one and after leading all of the way last start, Kelly again expects his filly to set the pace.

"I'm hoping she will. She led last time so I dare say she won't be far away again," he said.

Machs Legacy has three race starts to her name and has improved at each outing. Kelly hopes she can continue that improvement.

"She has been. She hasn't had a lot of experience and is starting to put it together," he said.

"I've got a bit of time for her."

Kelly, renowned for his success with young pacers, rates Machs Legacy as the pick of his crop this year.

He hopes to target the better two-year-old races with her later in the season.

"She's probably about the best I've got this year so far," he said.

"We'll go towards the races later on providing she keeps performing, I won't bust her or anything. If she keeps holding her form, she'll compete in the bigger races a bit later on."

Kelly will also be represented by One For Des in the TAB Odds & Evens 2YO Maiden Pace (1740m).

Bevan will take the drive on the filly, who has drawn the outside of the seven-horse field.

"She's a big filly and will need a bit of time," Kelly said.

"The draw makes it a lot harder. She'll be trying hard enough. I reckon she might be a bit overgrown but I think she'll pick one up with the right draw."

Kelly has also been happy to see Bevan enjoy plenty of success of late.

"She's going good. She's having a bit of luck and I hope it keeps up for her," he said.

The first of eight races at Riverina Paceway on Friday gets underway at 1.40pm.
