Pearce took out the club's best and fairest award last season after returning to his hometown club.
However after spending a year travelling back from Canberra to play, the imposing front rower planned to link back with Queanbeyan Kangaroos.
However with the Canberra Raiders Cup not going ahead, the prospect of a shortened season has Pearce excited for what lies ahead.
"It is good to be back home," Pearce said.
"I signed a deal over in Canberra but everything went pear shaped over there so it is definitely the next best choice is coming back here."
Initially the Blues title defence looked to be on shaky ground with Pearce, former Weissel Cup winner Zac Masters, four-try preliminary final hero Ben Roddy and Tom Warner coming out of the side.
However with Pearce and Masters back on deck things are looking up for the Blues.
Pearce is confident of another good showing.
"We are putting together a pretty good team together again this year," he said.
"It's a strong team and as we haven't lost that many hopefully we kick it on from last year."
He is also looking forward to playing in more Saturday games.
Pearce believes it is the way forward for Group Nine.
"The majority of them are on Saturday which makes everything easier," he said.
"It was what I was asking for last year and I think it just makes sense to have the whole comp played on a Saturday. It works out well being a short season with everything on a Saturday."
He also hopes to have a few teammates to make the weekly trip to Tumut.
However the Blues are yet to finalise their plans.
"The plan is to hopefully have a few mates to travel with as a fair few won't be playing due to the cancellation of the Canberra comp.
"We might have a little bit of a car pool back every Friday for training and they are keen to play some footy.
"It could work out well for Tumut."
The Blues have also picked up Stephen Gill and Josh Weir.
