A woman has been attacked in a violent home invasion after answering a knock at the door on Tuesday night.

The Murrumbidgee Police District said a woman aged in her 50s was at a home on Lang Street, South Hay, when a man knocked on the front door shortly after 7pm.
"When she opened the door, the man forced her to the ground and held her down momentarily before fleeing on foot," a police statement said.
"The woman sustained minor cuts to her face as a result of the incident.
"Officers from Murrumbidgee Police District attended and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident."
The man is only described as being approximately 175cm tall, with a medium to solid build and smelt strongly of cigarettes.
IN OTHER POLICE NEWS:
"At the time, he was wearing a dark coloured jumper and is believed to have been wearing track pants," the police statement said.
"Police are appealing for anyone with information, or who may have witnessed anything at the time of the incident, to come forward."
