Last month, Albury police appealed to the public for information after the May 31 incident.
Police were told a white Mercedes Benz was stolen from a repair shop in Albury sometime between 2pm May 30 and 2pm May 31.
Police allege the stolen vehicle was located by police about 5pm on May 31 and followed to Burrows Road Albury where it stopped in a driveway.
As a detective opened the car door to attempt to remove the driver from the car, the driver allegedly began to reverse at speed dragging the officer along the driveway with the car.
In other news:
The detective managed to roll away under the car door but sustained bruising and minor injuries.
Police allege the car continued to reverse and hit an unmarked police vehicle before driving along Burrows Road.
A pursuit was initiated but soon after was terminated.
The Mercedes was later located at a Fern Place, Albury home about 5.50pm.
Following extensive inquiries and the public appeal for help police found a 19-year-old hiding in a Wodonga hotel room on Monday at 2pm.
He was arrested by Victoria Police and taken to Wodonga Police Station where NSW police are applying for his extradition to NSW.
